It is nowthree months since I returned home from my amazing and magical adventures in Bali.
Returning home to Victoria, Australia to rather cold winter weather, welcoming mornings with -4 degrees keeps reminding me that I should be back in paradise and warm again.
Part 2 of my adventures in Bali during my second absolutely amazing week.
Day 9 - Accomodation - Bliss Resort and Spa. Ubud
Up and ready for another big adventure. Breakfast in the restaurant, there was such a lovely choice, it may have been banana fritters, or pancakes or omelette the selection was all yummy, with fresh fruit and tea or coffee, and also pastries or toast. A great selection and whatever i wanted made to order from the menu. The staff are all friendly and obliging with anything you would like for breakfast.
I am greeted by my gorgeous smiley guide Wira, and drivers Ary and Luis. These beautiful people are like sons to me now and I am very happy to have them as friends in Bali. They looked after me so well.
We began our adventures and the drive to Amed in the North East of Bali.
The drive takes 2-3 hours to get there if you do not stop along the way, as there were some interesting sites to see along the way. We visited the following stops and they were all very enjoyable.
Pura Goa Lawah Pesinggahan, Klungkung - Hindu Temple and Bat cave - the Temple here is along a main road behind ornate fences, on the otherside of the temples appears rock walls and a cave. Inside this cave the ceiling appears to be moving as the small bats move around and hang upside down from the ceiling. It appears as though you are being watched. by 1000 eyes.
In front of the cave is an offering table. Many of these offerings are eaten by the rats that also reside in this cave.
The temples beside the cave are ornate and well maintained. With many layers going higher into the sky and closer to the gods.
Beware though, when you get your sarong (which you hire there) that some of the vendors might give you a free bamboo necklace. Expecting you to purchase some local crafts on the way out.
Outside the temples was a street market where you could sample local food and drinks.
The other side of the road runs along the beach and there were also stalls along there as well.

This stop is not very far from Pura Goa Lawah and I found it to be a very interesting and educational learning about the Traditional process of salt making.
Watch or have a try at collecting the water from the sea, using the rubber buckets on a bamboo pole and spread the water across the dark grey sand where, once it has dried it is then raked and placed in a basket and then put into water reticules. Where it is filtered and then put outside again on the drying racks to dry out. At the end of the day it is scooped up and packaged for sale in the small hut. There are also a small selection of souvenirs that can be purchased here to support these families.
Tenganen Village - this village was my favourite as i have a love of textiles and anything arty or creative. You can watch the women weaving the textiles, learn about how they hand die the threads with natural dies.
This is one of 4 places in the world that makes double Ikat textiles. Hand woven textiles
Tirta Gangga - water temple
This is a beautiful water temple to visit, walk across the water on the stepping stones, sit and contemplate or observe the beautiful water fountains and the fish in the ponds.
There is a pond with huge impressive lilypads in it, with big spikey edges.
Baliku Resort Amed - Talubein- pool, view of the ocean.
Lovely views of the ocean, nice restaurant and food. Board games to fill in the idle hours by the beach.
