hibiscus flower

We have been sweltering in 38-40 degrees this week.So are not venturing away from the airconditioner or paddling pool much. This flower has been taken from my garden and is a hibiscus that comes up each year and then flowers for one day and goes away until next summer.

quilt art challenge 2006 so far

this is my quilt design so far, no teacups yet but they will be placed on the tablecloth. The original photo had teacups in a timber box. Hence the brown timber border. It also meant rural or country to me.The greenery is of the mt bogong and surrounding hills. The view from my parents house. The cane chair , to sit on and view the scenery of a tea party on the decking looking over the mountains. I have made this up using photoshop and illustrator programs. My first attempt.

We have had a few quiet days at home. Much needed. We have put up the pool in the back yard and hopefully the next couple of days will see it well used. Currently working on my ART QUILT CHALLENGE.Will put up my ideas shortly that i am currently creating. Only 4 weeks to go till i go back to TAFE , so much , so little time to do it all in.
Have a lovely day.

friday 6th January 2006

Todays events included.Buying a new white board and cork board for the kitchen walls. Husband has kindly put up the whiteboard. The cork board is to go above the creative clutter i call a desk.So I can hang reminders all over it and works in progress.
Also playing with my computer and creating digital scrapbooked pages of our new years holiday to Lakes Entrance. Kids played around home, Toby spent the afternoon on the playstation with his friend and Hugh sat in his paddling pool cooling off.

The orange project finally

Here it is , but I had to photograph what I had done on the computerusing photoshop to keep the file small.Photos are from our recent trip to Lakes Entrance, sunset , new years eve at Lakes, canoe by the river, fireworks new year eve, orange balls are from boats at Lakes, tshirt is my 4 yr old.Nets are fishing nets and the other 2 objects are a mug and a sandpit sieve from home.I'm baffled why a photoshop image would not post here.??
Happy evening to all.

todays project is all about orange things

Having a bit of problem uploading the image I have been working with, this is one of the images.
The suspense of it will be great, but the relief to see it will be interesting.

Quilt Art Challenge 2006

This is the image that has been sent to me from the coordinator Jane for the Quilt Art Challenge. From the Magstore, craft forum website. From this image I will then try to design a pattern for me to then create in textiles to be completed by August 2006.
Anyone for a cup of tea. Lots of different ideas floating in the head but will have to get started to create a final plan.

Welcome my friends

Welcome to my friends. Feel free to comment on this blog it is another way to keep in touch. I intend to add photos taken with my favourite toy of all times my digital camera. Snippits of what the family is doing and when I get back to TAFE what I am learning and projects I am working on.
In the mean time Happy New Year and look forward to hearing from you.
This is the desk from "somewhereonthedesk" , I work like a clutter freak. But I know usually where things are tucked away.
I'm pretty happy with myself, first learnt to create my blog last night, now post and have finally worked out how to post a picture. Enjoy the messy desk. It will change over the course of time.
This is my first blog. The L(learners) plates are well and truly attached.
Have been trying to work out how to attach a photo of my desk.
As the name refers to my desk, when my husband asks for something it is usually buried somewhere on the desk.
So today, one post but no photo , still working on this.
Have started this blog, as I was referred to one this week from an Art Quilt Challenge and a few more blogs have passed by me this week, full of ideas and inspiration.
