House Rules

Great book, that explores the affects children with autism can have on the family and also the affect the way a family interacts and how it can affect the child with autism.

My sister's keeper

Sad book, the book was way better than the movie. The movie didnt have near as much detail about the character or the story plot as the book contained.

The Swan Thieves

Brilliant book about art work that has gone missing. I loved this book.

The walking tracks were flooded along the river in Shepparton, during September 2010 floods.

Time flies when you are having fun

It seems that I let a few months go by before i get back to my blog.
What have i been doing?
I joined Phoenix Trading as an independent trader and am loving selling wonderful cards and stationary to my friends and family.
I have a fetish for stationary and quite a collection of pens and notepads all over my desk. So the cards I sell are what I feel passionate about and are so lovely and great quality www.phoenix-trading.com.au/web/genevievejackson.
I have spent time reading, another favourite past time. I will put up images of some of the books i have had the pleasure to enjoy recently.
Craft , has included a bit of quilting, then my sewing machine decided it didnt want to have a working reverse button, so at the moment it is in getting fix. I have been cutting up some triangles to make some material bunting. I just need sewing machine to be fixed so i can actually finish them and not have another UFO sitting around.
Kids are breaking arms, playing tennis and swimming , learning the guitar and helping me with my cards (a pocketmoney incentive). The eldest child learning how to mow the lawn, and as we have had the wettest October with over 100ml over rain this month and floods in our town during September the lawn keeps growing quite quickly. Our house was ok during the floods but had they gone up another metre we might have been evacuating, as in 1992 our house got a bit wet. I now know how important it is to have a kit ready to evacuate with, although I havent quite got that down pat yet.
I have become addicted to some of the games on facebook and tending to a farm has become a very non productive ending to the day. With the help of the kids we have a great time viturally farming.
I have been looking at blogs today and admiring the motivation and creativeness in people and mums around the world.
Cheers and only 55 days of shopping left til xmas.

Whats happening with creativeness

Hi, an overdue update. Another temporary job completed 2 weeks ago, and i finally have time to look at updating this site and maybe even start some quilting.
The house has been temporarily decluttered as we had visitors, and we can see the loungeroom floor free of lego and toys at least we could for 2 days.
creativeness has been a bit slow in coming recently, I have completed a photo album using Snapfish.com.au to create it, it will be great to have all our holiday photos in one album.
Have created a creative resume for a job I would dearly loved to work at. Still waiting for a response after having an interview last week.
Job resumes and interviews and searching for a permanent job, eat into my creative time, one day I might be blessed with an ongoing position of employment instead of temp assignments.
I sit at my desk and observe the calendar for this month, a trip to the Star wars exhibition last year on the desk calendar and the wall calendar has scultpture from McClelland Scultpture park on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. I realise I have actually created somethings in the last 6 months.
A trip to the Melbourne Aquarium and watching the kids faces when they looked at the sharks going over theirs heads was priceless and watching the penquins being fed.
Spending a great weekend with friends to celebrate xmas in July has been fun and festive. Not long now until the real xmas will be upon us again, the year is flying by so fast.
Cheers until the next update.

I didnt realise 6 months had gone past

Hi and welcome back. I have had a busy 6 mths, with a couple of temporary jobs prior to xmas. The usual xmas rush and fun and games. Then a wonderful weeks holiday in Adelaide. We travelled by train from Melb to Adelaide. It takes 8 hours, long but interesting and we didnt have to drive. Nice hot weather over there for the week.
I got back from holidays and commenced working 4 days later. I have just finished that Temp assignment and enjoying a few weeks at home, with the kids.
I am hoping the creative bug might resurface and you may see more input on this site again. I have a box of material on the lounge room floor begging to be used in some way and a quilt i need to finish for my child.
Cheers

Mediatation Weekend

I have participated in a meditation weekend for self discovery and creativity. It was an interesting journey . Held at a conference centre in the Stathbogie ranges near Violet Town in Victoria. The scenary and surrounds of the area are covered in bushland. Birds, bushwalking , rocks, wildlife. We rose early in the morning and the sunrise was spectacular through the trees, colours of warm reds and oranges. I enjoyed the Thai Che in the morning, this was new to me but I found it sort of calming. The actual workshops were not actually what i was expecting from the weekend, but i participated and found some of it appropriate to myself.  For fun we walked through the bush, i had my camera and pursued taking photos of trees and lychen on rocks, and looking down on the valleys in the distance. The forest was nice and quiet and peaceful, that in itself was a nice form of meditation for myself. We did some exploratory artwork, with pencils, textas, cutting and pasting, and materials. I enjoyed this part of the weekend and enjoyed playing with colours and textures with no pressures to create any thing with an expectation involved. What did i learn? I learnt i had a lovely time away from my family, and i enjoyed not being nagged or asked to do things for people all weekend. I enjoyed not having to cook - the food was nice. I also enjoyed returning home and having a Hudsons hotchoc on the way home and suprising hubby with a coffee and returning early enough to get some stuff done around the house before it got dark.
Onwards to this week and work, school, lunches, dinners, bills and all the usual stuff. Back to normal.

This is my current project , needless to say it will be ready for easter 2010 and not in 2 days time.

Monday, March 23, 2009

I have had an enjoyable few minutes, going back through my blog site and checking out what I have done over the last 3 years. I realise now what i have been missing lately is the urge to be creative and finish projects once they are started. I need to get off the computer and use my hands to create again.
Even with a New full time job, my new resolve - (it may not be new years) - but I will try to create something once a month. For myself and for self enjoyment.  Finish off the quilt i started 2 weeks ago for bush fire victims.
Finish up the easter embrodieries in time for easter.
I have a great job , with great people . I have a great family. Kids that suprise me with their comments. In the art gallery in Benalla- "mum I know why those paintings are put there like that!." Why? "Because that one in the middle is the biggest, then that one over to the right is next and then the one on the left." the thought that they were put there in size evaded me, except that they had similar imagery of beaten up cars.
What a great age to take kids to the art gallery - they show you things that we take for granted  and bring us back down to earth.
Put colour back into my day!!!!

We visited friends on their farm, these are some of their girls. We will  go woodchopping there soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009

Welcome 2009, it seems like ages since xmas and the new year passed. We had a lovely quiet xmas at home, then headed to Lakes Entrance for a week and had New Years Eve  by the lakes watching the fireworks, 9.30pm and again at midnight (from our apartment balcony). We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the cool weather, we visited the Buchan Caves and had a great day out. We played minigolf, walked everywhere. Had 2 visits to the beach , we got sandblasted the last day at the beach. Back at work again, same old. Still enjoying my admin job at the moment.
I have been updating my digitally stored photographs andmaking index sheets so the rest of the family know where to find the photos.
The kids had a day at Avenel Maze with my husband and last Sunday we all went to Echuca andplayed mini golf and got around the Oz maze. It was relaxing finishing the hot day off with a bit of paddlesteamer watching on the Murray River.

This brochure is not actually my design, however i did put together the brochure as required by a friend ready to be printed , had to cut and paste and move the images around to fit the dl size.
Friend was very happy with the results.

Update and why have i been missing

Hi to anyone who checks out my blog site.
Sorry i have not updated it with any info for a while.
Life has been busy. From April 2008 until August 2008, I was working as a  Graphic Artist for The Numurkah Leader. Doing a lot of classified ads, some newspaper ads, some business cards, brochures, magnets, and a really great Theatre program.
I have since changed my employment and am working in Shepparton, but am doing an admin job. At the moment liking it greatly. Working 9-3pm works well with the kids and no travel and the people i worked with are lovely (so far so good).
I had trouble uploading some photos to this blogsite with my apple mac, so I have joined the world of Facebook and having a lovely time catching up with school friends.etc.
