Well the bathroom renovations are finished for the moment, just have to do the painting .
We didnt do much for the school holidays, as we waited around for tradespeople pretty much all the 2 weeks. But it does look great and the new toilet is fantastic.
We saw "over the hedge" and "cars" at the movies ,I personally enjoyed " over the hedge " better than cars. It was really cute.
We had a family day out to the Avenel Maze, the kids have a ball there. The quiz to get around the maze is all about Ned Kelly, who lived around the area and not far from Glenrowan. We had a nice picnic, and did the mazes. We visited Mitchelton winery on the way home, showed the kids the look out tower and the playground and the art exhibition. but didnt get to taste the wines, maybe next time.
Kids are back at school and I go back to Tafe this week also.
Welcome to my blog. All things creative, whether it be in the craft room, digital photography, creating family tree albums and researching genealogy. My motto in life is to enjoy it, laugh, eat good food and red wine and celebrate achievements with friends and experience some of the finer things in life. In 2016-17 my new travel adventures have included 3 trips to Bali. I can't wait to return to Bali again in 2018.

Orange and white is a pocket book, Brown cardboard with stitching in has pamphlet stitched pages and corrigated card cover, blue spine is a 3 piece cover with concertina insert, 2 small ones are envelope books with coptic binding, the thinner one is my trial i did at home, still got to work on the technique. The front book is japanese stab binding, black and red one is pamphlett stitched and last one is another one i made at home just for practice and made a small story in it. My first story book. a bit corny but all practice.

my wine labels for my latest assignment
High here is a small peek at my latest assignment.
We had to design wine labels. I have used a fictictious
wine company. Just for fun.
We also had to design a poster which I have adapted the orange wine label to be used as a poster.
A shelf talker which I will take a photo of to include on site once I have finished attaching labels to the bottles tomorrow.

book binding course and conference may 06
Have been busy lately , did a book binding, handmade book course at the local art gallery, for two days. It was absolutely enjoyable and I learnt a lot. I have to present an assignment later in the year as a book, hence handmade book would be quite impressive to present later on.
Went to Melbourne for a week from 8th May to attend AGideas, at the Hamer Hall, Arts Centre on Southbank. The forum was on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday, 9am-5pm. It covered 34 speakers from around the world and Australia. All talking about design or graphic art in some capacity. Ralph Eggleston from Pixar animation was my favourite, talking about animation, also had Nick Pill from Rising Sun, an australian animation company working on Charlottes web. 3 guys talked about the Melbourne Commonwealth games, the design of the baton, the logos, and the opening and closing ceremonies. Met Stelarc, an installation artist, with a really rad laugh, got his photo and autograph and between 3 of us shared limited postcards of his exhibitions.
I stayed in the city and went out to Crown casino occassionally and caught up with some friends as well. Shopping was also included.
My boys met me in Melbourne on friday and we stayed with friends, went to the Scienceworks museum , the kids loved it. Then stayed in the city at a hotel, this included a trip on the trams for the kids and exploring around Southbank by night, and the Casino entrance, with its fountains that move to the music and light show on the walls.
I had a lovely time. Will put up photos of some of the books i made later.

Here is a family photo , we went on an adventure to the King Valley in Victoria. From Tatong, to Tolmie, we saw Kelly's tree. Where one of Ned Kellys gang was shot. Then to Powers lookout, a great view of the valley. Station Creek Winery, where we sampled some reds and whites. A game of bat and ball at Lake William Hovell and then it was time to come home again. The kids gave the day a thumbs up kind of day.We all had fun.

vintage viewing grape logo
Vintage Viewing Logo
I took this photo , using Binoculars to create the round shape and then had the camera looking through the binoculars with the bottle in the distance. Then put a filter over it in photoshop. This was for an assignment for an upcoming wine label exhibition, we all had to do a logo to promote it. I have 2 logos, the other one having grapes and a photo in the grapes.

April update
I havent added to my blog for a while, but here are the two latest assignments I have been working on. The next one incorporates a wine exhibition logo, and wine labels. So it should be big.
The last couple of weeks have seen , the school holidays come and go.
We spent a week at Mt Beauty , and saw my Grandmother who is 95. I then came home and created a photo album for her to remember what she did while she was visiting Victoria. Then it was back to school and the fun of it all over again.
Purchased "Long Way Round "dvd 's for my husbands birthday, about Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman riding motorbikes around the world. Worth a watch if you come across it. And was speaking to a friend today and her son was glued to the tv watching it as we spoke.
